E.        Ministry of Social Mission and Outreach

 

1.      National and International Missions

 

(a)        Keep the membership informed of the special offerings to be collected throughout the year.

 

(a)                Plan, propose, and administer a program for the membership through the year with regard to the areas of financial need in the overall church program.

 

(b)               Communicate to the membership opportunities for Christian action and witness, suggested, recommended, and implemented by Session, Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly.

 

(d)       Keep membership knowledgeable of mission projects in which the church is or might become involved.

 

2.      Community Outreach

(a)        Give special attention to community and social action and justice issues in which the church might have relationship or responsibility and provide social services through the Food Pantry and support of agencies like DCM and Hagar’s House.

 

(b)        Promote the interests of the church in the community, city and across the denomination.

 

(c)       Sponsor programs and mission projects that provide members of

           the congregation with a means of exchanging ideas and interaction

           with the broader faith community.

 

(c)                Advocate and plan for a comprehensive program of health and

wellness promotion.

 

3.      Partnership Ministries

 

(a)        Promote Partnership opportunities between Hillside and other Faith Communities.

 

(b)        Strengthen the existing and potential partnership possibilities between sister churches, other community organizations and ourselves.
