Worship
The Ministry of Worship invites you to a Worship Life Workshop on  Saturday, September 11, 2010.  Dr. Melva Costen will lead us - young and old, in an examination of why we do what we do as we serve.  Plan to attend from 9am - Noon.  Everyone who serves in the Ministry of Worship:

  • Everyone is urged to attend.



F.         Ministry of Worship

 

            1.         Worship and Sacraments Sub-Committee

           

(a)                Supervise the preparation for worship in the church, in terms of the sanctuary appointments and aids to worship.

 

(b)               Organize liturgy teams to plan, in conjunction with the pastor, and Director of Music, the worship services for Advent and Lent, and other special services as authorized by the Session.

 

(c)                Have charge of arrangements for Communion services, to include the serving of shut-ins.  This shall include the preparation of the elements and the enlistment and training of Elders for serving the sacrament.

 

(d)       Enlist and train lay readers, acolytes, and ushers for each service of worship and for other special services as needed.

               

(e)        Be responsible for securing and placing flowers and other sanctuary and narthex appointments; assign Elders to take turns distributing the flowers after the Worship service in collaboration with the Pastor.

 

 (f)        With the approval of the Session, secure supply preachers for special occasions and for times when the pastor is absent.      

 

 (g)        Have oversight of the Prayer Group.

 

 

2.         Music Sub-Committee         

 

(a)    Administer all policies of the Session and Pastor concerning musical aspects of the church’s program, including the securing of substitute musicians, in cooperation with the director of music and in consultation with the Pastor.

 

(b)   Promote the special choirs – Chancel, Bell, Youth, Children’s.

 

(c)    Be responsible for all special programs of worship sponsored by the church, in cooperation with the Director of Music and the Pastor.

 

3.      Church Nursery Sub-committee

 

In conjunction with the Education Ministry, be responsible for the Church Nursery.

 

(a)    Recommend to the Administration Ministry, a person to be hired to work in the nursery during worship services and other church events.

 

(b)   Oversee the nursery, including supervising the works, equipping the nursery, keeping necessary supplies, and overseeing its cleanliness and safety.

 

(c)    Administer policies for high school youth workers who assist in the nursery.
